July 27 marks the passing anniversary of Reza Moridi-Delfan who was an indispensable maestro of woodwind instruments in Iran.
He is considered best player of the Sorna (literally "strong flute") in Iran and arguably in the whole Middle East.
Born 1948 in Iranian province of Lorestan, Moridi-Delfan was one of the best thespians in the field of Iran folkloric music.
The artist was honored with prestigious title, “The King of Iranian Woodwind Instruments” in 2010.
He was also praised at several ceremonies held to mark his expertise and virtuosity.
Technically speaking, the sound produced the maestro's Sorna was voluminous and of high-beat.
Reza Moridi-Delfan departed this life on July 27, 2013 at his hometown, Delfan.
